Psalm 37:4

We’ve had an intense couple of days.

Intense in that our hearts have been burdened by the rekindled remembrance of our desire to minister abroad. It’s always been there, in the back of our minds, shifting from dormancy to thriving and back again as we welcomed each new stage in our life together. The desire to serve has always been on our hearts and has come out in one way or another either by teaching Sunday School, singing on the worship team, working at camp or simply by building relationships with other believers and nonbelievers. Missions has saturated the way we live and wish to be and also has perpetuated us forward in our decisions.

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” -Psalm 37:4

This is one of my favorite Bible verses for many a reason. I have a daily reminder of it inked on my foot so that in every step forward or backward I remember that in my purest desires Christ has given me, I am obliged to follow Him at His prompting and at His leading and not mine own.

With that in mind Dylan and I moved forward with our desire to fill out the short term missionary application through the Covenant Church. We’re still filling it out, deliberating over the many questions asked throughout it and also adding many of our own. There’s so many questions we have. For each other, for our families, for our friends, for our family, for the church, for God. The list goes on. And yet we’re more sure of this than anything else. How does that happen…or work for that matter?

We’d really appreciate your prayers and support as we go through this process and look to the next chapter in our lives. If you think about it, please remember to ask for guidance, patience and humility for us and that we would set aside our desires in order to truly listen to what God is saying and where He is leading us. Both Dylan and I know that God has given us this desire of ministry and blessed us with strengths and weaknesses unique to us and what we can offer. It’s just in how He desires us to utilize them best that we are seeking an answer. And it is through this application process that we feel will help us to make some critical decisions concerning our family for the next few years. So please, if you do, please remember us in your prayers.

  1. I agree. In addition to spreading the gospel, I think you guys also have a responsibility to share the amazing walking taco with peoples all over the world. It changed my life. Of course, if I could vote I would vote for you guys to stay right here. It would definitely be our loss.
